About our venue in the Czech Republic

The master class will be taking place in a beautiful Renaissance castle in the small town of Náměšť in Moravia (Czech Republic).  First-time visitors to the region and to Castle Náměšť will love this venue and the rolling hills and woods of the Czech-Moravian Highlands.

A final concert will be given in the Castle’s historical library.

The Moravian capital Brno lies about 40 km to the east, and the low-cost airline Ryanair operates flights to Brno from London (Stansted airport) several times a week (the direct flight takes about an hour and a half).


Accommodation for the students can be organized either in the Castle’s own pension or in a small hotel nearby called "Na statku" (= "On the farm," walking distance 300 metres).  The cost of a shared twin-bedded room at the Castle pension is 1150 Kč (= Czech crowns) per night (approximately $57, or €42.20, i.e., $28.50, or €21.10 per person per night, at the present exchange rate).  Prices at the Hotel Na statku are similar (the price list is available at

How to get to Brno


There are three ways to get to Brno by plane:

Brno airport

( RyanAir ( is operating direct and cheap flights between Brno and Stansted (London).  
Vienna airport

( - international airport in Austria. Vienna airport is about 2 hours drive from Brno.
Student Agency ( operates direct bus connection from Vienna (city, airport) to Brno.
There are four connections each day (Vienna airport->Brno – 8:05 a.m., 11:05 a.m., 6:05 p.m., 8:30 p.m.,

Brno->Vienna airport – 3:05 a.m., 6:00 a.m., 1:15 p.m., 15:15 p.m.).

Transport by bus from Vienna airport to Brno takes about 2,5 hours. Price of transport: 150 - 300 CZK (€5 – 10).
Alternatively, there is a fast transport link (S-Bahn) from the airport to the centre of Vienna calling at the railway station that
serves Brno.  Czech Railways operate quick IC, EC connections between Vienna-Brno-Prague.
Prague (Praha in Czech) airport

( - international airport in the Czech Republic (Václav Havel Airport Prague), which is about 2 hours drive from Brno. There is a good motorway connection.  

Student Agency operates direct bus connection from Prague (city, airport) to Brno. There are more than ten connections in both directions each day.
Transport by bus from Prague airport takes 3,5 hours. Price of transport: about 150 CZK, about €7 (single).

A unique opportunity

Some participants may wish, after they complete the programme, to follow it with a trip either to the beautiful Czech capital, Prague, which lies only about 200 km to the west of Brno, or to the Austrian capital Vienna, 130 km south of Brno - or indeed a trip to both cities.  Prague as well as Vienna can easily be reached from Brno by rail, and there is also a regular direct coach service to both cities.
